清潔さは私の期待を完全に覆しました
仕事で頻繁に出張し、様々なレベルのホテルに数十軒も宿泊してきた私にとって、宿泊施設の清潔さは非常に重要な要素です。今回の北京滞在では、朝陽ジョイシティに近いという理由だけで、青年路駅近くのBeijing Grand Court International Hotel (Chaoyang Dayue City Qingnian Road subway station)を選びました。しかし、3日間滞在してみて、このホテルの清潔さは私の先入観を完全に覆すものでした。
チェックインの際、フロントのスタッフは「1泊につき1回の清掃、3回の消毒」という基準を全室で徹底していると丁寧に説明してくれました。さらに、もし何か特別な清掃の要望があれば、いつでもフロントに電話すればすぐに対応してくれると冗談交じりに言ってくれました。ドアを開けた瞬間、私は驚きました。古いホテルによくあるような不快な臭いは一切なく、レモンと消毒液が混ざった、ほのかで爽やかな香りが漂っていました。廊下のカーペットさえも、埃一つなく、しっとりと湿っていて、柔らかく、埃を気にせずに快適に歩くことができました。
私は出張の際に必ず持ち歩く携帯用点検ライトを取り出し、隅々まで点検しました。ホテルでは通常、汚れが溜まりやすい場所が、どこもピカピカでした。バスルームの鏡は完全に乾いており、シャワーエリアの目地は真っ白で、便座と便器の台座は汚れ一つなく、黄ばみも一つもありませんでした。洗面台の排水口には髪の毛が一本も付着しておらず、ヘアドライヤーの排気口にも埃一つありませんでした。寝具は乾ききっていてふかふかで、枕には嫌な臭いはなく、シーツをめくってマットレスをチェックしても、一本の髪の毛も見当たりませんでした。これは、多くの五つ星ホテルでも見られないほどの細部へのこだわりです。
最も驚いたのは、見落としがちな隅々まで清潔だったことです。窓際のエアコンの吹き出し口はピカピカで、吹き出す空気も全く無臭でした。机の縁や隙間はピカピカに磨き上げられ、汚れは微塵もありませんでした。クローゼットの中の予備の毛布や枕はすべてダストバッグに密封されており、取り出してもカビ臭さは全くありませんでした。たまたま部屋に戻って何かを取りに行っていると、清掃係の方が掃除をしていました。彼女は色違いの布を使ってテーブル、カウンター、そして浴室を拭いていました。トイレを拭く布は洗面台には一切触れていませんでした。床は一方向に二度モップがけをし、最後に乾いた布で巾木を拭き上げていました。
共用エリアの清潔さも同様に安心できるものでした。朝食レストランのテーブルは、宿泊客が退席するたびにすぐに拭き上げられ、消毒されていました。食事提供エリアの皿は、消毒されたばかりでまだ温かかったです。エレベーターのボタンにも、すぐに使える消毒用ウェットティッシュが備え付けられていました。 2日間の滞在中、ちょうど季節の変わり目で気温が下がったのですが、ホテル側が親切にもスタッフを部屋まで派遣して、無料でコートの埃取りと消毒をしてくれました。その細やかな気配りは、自宅でするよりもずっと素晴らしいものでした。
